Dan F · Volume One (2000​-​2009)

Volume One focuses on early breakbeat tracks from 2000~2009, the full length 12″ versions as released on Disuye Records, Sound of Habib, Kilowatt Recordings & contemporary labels.

Volume Two – coming very soon – will focus on Dan F’s aliases and 4/4 output from the same time period. And Volume Three will cover ‘the rest’.

The process of putting these compilations together was a bit of a mission. Not all DAW projects could be opened (long gone hardware, dead hard drives & incompatible plugins etc.) so where multi-track mixes were not possible, remastering was done with whatever stereo files were available.

Many thanks for supporting this compilation, and if you prefer streaming services then Volume One will eventually be on Spotify, Tidal & Apple Music in the next couple months.

I spent far too much time on this. (⊙෴☉)

All fails & wins aside, the song arrangements have *not* been changed. I was fanatical about that, mainly out of respect for the people who supported the original releases nearly two decades ago. Apart from re-mastering and (where possible mixing) nothing has been added, deleted or removed … no matter how much Dan 2021 cringes at the creative decisions made by Dan 2000. All the songs on Volume One are identical to the original 12″ versions.

… except for ‘Bluebox’. The wrong master was sent to press, so the version on Volume One *is* the original, despite what was put out on vinyl.

A few people might notice that ‘Rebreather’ & ‘Close Yer Eyez’ are both missing. I am waiting for some obsolete Protools hardware to arrive from Reverb (stuck in customs, been weeks already) … anyway, I can’t re-open those projects and do the mixes justice without the missing hardware. And I can’t delay putting out Volume One any longer. The missing tracks will both be included on a future Volume.
